Counting Brown the Hours

I woke up this morning hoping the clock would show as late a time as possible, since that would mean I would have less time stuck just sitting and waiting for 2 AM tomorrow to arrive.

Unfortunately, I had been a bit too anxious to head off to Brown, and so I, the worst morning person on the planet, woke up at 5 in the morning. I desperately wanted to at least try to go back to sleep, but I knew I would have to get used to waking up at what felt like 5, if not earlier, so I stayed awake. Since I probably would have gone insane waiting 3 hours for my family to wake up, I decided to do some packing so I wouldn't be panicking and running around like a chicken with its head cut off when I had only a few hours to pack.

After my dad headed off to work, my mom, my sister, and I had waffles with whipped cream and strawberries, which is a summer tradition of ours. Since I will be leaving tomorrow, our usual "Waffle Wednesday" had to be moved to Monday. It'll be nice getting to spend a lot of time with my family today, since in just a handful of hours I'll be gone for 4 weeks.

My dad's birthday is tomorrow (he had to make it as hard to get gifts as possible, since his birthday is always the same week as Father's Day) but we'll be celebrating tonight, so I'm glad I won't miss too much while I'm gone.

Today would be an exciting day on its own, what with my dad's birthday and all, but the fact that by this time tomorrow I'll be on a plane to Providence makes this day even better. I am as excited as excited can be to go to Brown; words really can't do it justice. I know I'm about to open up yet another chapter in my life, and I'm looking forward to see what Brown has in store for me.

  1. Waffle Wednesday? With whipped cream? Sounds pretty nice, Nick. Maybe while you're gone I can swing by your place and keep the tradition alive.

You have the experience of having done this before yet you're still nervous. Sounds like a fun trip, Nick.
